E.L Cord founded the luxury brand Cord Automobile on the 28th of December 1929 in Auburn Indiana, and as a former race car driver and mechanic introduced many of the innovative and revolutionary ideas that made the motor car fun, cool and sleek during the golden age of Hollywood.

Innovations

In June 1929 Cord introduced the L-29. The first front wheel drive car mass produced and sold in the American market. These innovations continued with hidden headlamps on the 810 and 812, a style and drive choice that wouldn't be matched until 30 years later.

The Celebrities' Choice

Tom Mix, Sonja Jenie, Amelia Earhart, Johnnie Weissmuller, Cecil B. DeMille and Carmen Miranda all chose Cord as their choice method of transportation. It's fantastic handling, smooth ride and striking looks made it that you were instantly noticed as you cruised around Hollywood in speedy luxury.
